Ukrainian Black Sea ports

The Izmail Sea Commercial Port, one of the most modern and highly equipped port on the Danube, was founded in the beginning of the 19th century. The Danube is the only river in the world, on the banks of which and its tributaries 11 states are situated. The port of Izmail is a largest transport center, in which operation of sea, river, railway and motor transport is closely interlaced. It is the most optimum way from the Danube European countries to the Caucasian countries, Iran, the shortestway to deliver cargoes from Turkey, Greece and so on to Russia, the Baltic and Scandinavian countries. The port of Izmail is situated on the left bank of the Kiliyskoe Ghirlo (Kiliya Mouth) of the Danube River between the 92nd and 94th km. The navigation in port is all year round

Pilotage is compulsory to all deep-sea ships sailing in the Ukrainian part of the Danube river. Under normal hydrometeorological conditions, pilotage is performed round the clock. To have the ship piloted to to the port of Izmail, Master shall, 24 hours prior to arrival of the Izmailskiy Chatal, place orders for a pilot with the Harbour Master of Izmail port and specify again 4 hours prior to arrival. Foreign vessels shall place orders for pilot services or shifting berths througn the Inflot Agency or ship's agents. All ships sailing in the traffic regulation zone shall keep watch at VHF Channel 16 and communicate over the operation channel only.
